We recently informed you that we raised £500 for our latest chosen charity Bobath Wales in a variety of fundraising events over the last few months (article here).
Yesterday Gail Griffiths, Head of Fundraising and Retail from Bobath attended our offices in Nantgarw so Steve Evans, our Finance Director could present the cheque for the amount raised.
Talk training staff greeted Gail with a warm welcome and whilst enjoying tea and cake, Gail provided us with an update of the fantastic work Bobath have been doing to improve the lives of children with Cerebral Palsy. Around 1 in 400 babies are born with Cerebral Palsy which results from damage to the brain, although the condition is not typically diagnosed at birth. The condition predominantly affects mobility and also cognition although the severity does vary. The specialist physical therapy that Bobath provide helps children improve their abilities enabling more independence and participation in activities many of us take for granted. A member of Talk training staff, Emma Blackmore has personally benefitted from Bobath’s support with her daughter Mary and was amazed at the difference just a few sessions of therapy has made to their lives. It was Emma who originally suggested Bobath to Talk training work’s council as our chosen charity. You can read more about Emma and Mary’s story here.
The money raised by Talk training will go towards providing therapy and equipment which makes such a big difference to the lives of families affected by Cerebral Palsy. Thank you to all staff that helped with all the fundraising for this worthwhile cause.
