Talk Training has a position available for an Essential Skills Tutor within the Operations Department based at our Nantgarw office.  The position is permanent full-time position but will consider part-time, with an immediate start date.

The successful applicant will be responsible for WEST Initial/Diagnostic testing with all learners and to provide training and on-going support to all learners in all areas of Essential Skills.  The successful applicant will also be responsible for administering Controlled Task and end testing for all learners ensuring all company procedures and documentation are adhered to.

Ideally the applicants should have experience in the following areas:

  • Experience of Essential Skills, workshop delivery, lesson planning and classroom management, working with learners with additional support needs and evidence of achieving targets. Current knowledge of Essential Skills Qualifications.
  • Good communication and planning skills and a flexible approach with the ability to organise and prioritise workload are essential.
  • Applicants must have their own transport and hold a full clean driving licence.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Essential Skills Tutor

RESPONSIBLE TO: Operations Manager

PURPOSE: To promote and represent the company in accordance with our Ambition, Values and Behaviours..

To provide training and on-going support to all staff across the  Company in all areas of Essential Skills; and to carry out
diagnostic testing with all Learners identified at Entry Level 3 and below ensuring all company procedures and
documentation are adhered to.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To maintain a high standard of training and assessment for all learners engaged with the company.
  • To comply with the Essential Skills requirements as defined by the appropriate QCF awarding bodies.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork / documents are completed and maintained to the correct standards and requirements and carry out self-inspection as and when required, to ensure quality standards are being met
  • To develop schemes of work, lesson plans and resources in line with current training requirements.
  • To maintain and promote safe working practices for self and others ensuring that all training materials and training environments conform to prescribed health and safety requirements.
  • To present a positive professional role model to learners impacting on standards, ethics, practices and behaviour.
  • To embrace and integrate equality, professionalism and integrity into all aspects of the assessment/training programme.
  • Effectively administer WEST support to learners.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and provide additional learning support for learners who are Entry 3 and below to achieve the required qualification.
  • Continual liaison and support across the Company regarding any queries in the delivery of Essential Skills.
  • Be a point of contact for Learners for any queries relating to Essential Skills
  • Support Learners with additional learning needs (e.g. dyslexia)
  • Liaise with Essential Skills Coordinator regarding External Verifier visits and support preparation for External Verifier visits
  • To attend and participate in all meetings and training initiatives as requested by managers/ Coordinators.
  • To play an active role in the induction, development and support of new and existing members of staff.
  • If required attend Focus Group meetings and networking events.
  • To be proactive in self-development (CPD) in line with company requirements.
  • To perform any reasonable task requested by the company.

 

OTHER:

This post requires mandatory registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) as a prerequisite to employment.

 

HOURS OF WORK:   34.5

Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm and Friday 9am – 1.30pm (Hybrid working)

Salary:                  £24,440 plus benefits package
