Talk training’s annual Strategy Day took place on Friday 27th October at St Fagans National Museum of History in the Oakdale Workman’s Institute.

The day started with breakfast rolls and plenty of tea and coffee prior to the formal director presentations. Thanks to Catrin, Chantelle and Dan of Elior, the St Fagans on site caterers, for exceeding our expectations with their well-received catering support. Diolch!

Talk Training’s Managing Director, Jon Hughes, started the presentations by delivering the business strategy for 2017/18. Amongst other things, Jon gave a Welsh Government and work based learning political overview, outlined the Key Objectives which will help Talk training to continue its success and also announced that the management and staff developed revised Company Ambition, Values and Behaviours will be implemented from the 1st November 2017.

Steve Evans, Finance Director, then gave a financial update and overview before Alison Anthony, Operations Director, discussed some of the recent company challenges, Welsh Government work based learning programme and funding changes and potential future business opportunities. Alison also congratulated all staff who had completed training/qualifications with Talk Training over the last few months and presented them with their well-deserved certificates. Da iawn pawb!

A short presentation was then made by Mike Woods, Quality Manager, introducing a new online management and staff training suite, before Vince Donovan, Managing Director of Safety Solutions Training Limited, and guest for the day, delivered a Preventing Radicalisation Awareness briefing as part of Talk Training’s Raising Prevent Awareness Strategy.

Following the delivery of the presentations and some much-needed further refreshments, everyone  took part in a Murder Mystery event which was hosted by Eventus Training and Events Ltd.  Trying to solve the “Who killed Dr X?” mystery led to much feverish activity around the exhibits in the grounds of St Fagans, which resulted in Alison Anthony claiming the Directors’ Challenge trophy. Huge thanks to Phil, Alistar and Sharon of Eventus Training and Events Ltd for their energy and direction for this fun activity. Diolch!

Many thanks to Hannah and Sylvia of St Fagans for all their fantastic event support. Diolch yn fawr!

Where will we go and what will we do next year? Come on 2018!!!
