Skills Cymru Event coming to Cardiff in October

Businesses and educational organisations based in Wales were invited to the launch of the Skills Cymru Wales Event coming to Wales in October. Skills Cymru is a highly interactive and inspirational careers and skills event series taking place on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd October 2014 at the MotorPoint Arena in Cardiff. By attending young people from 14-24 will get the best possible start of their working lives; encouraging them to make the right decisions based on impartial information about their future. Many new leading edge innovative career opportunities will be on show, particularly in the world of technology but across many sectors.

Talk training attended the launch earlier this month on 10th June along with approximately 180 other organisations. Chris Jones, S4C weather chaired the event and introduced the four speakers:

1.      Ken Skates, Deputy Minister for Skills and Technology
2.      Arwyn Watkins, National Training Federation for Wales (NFTW)
3.      Sandra Busby, Contact Centre Forum
4.      Ian Menzies, Senior Director, General Dynamics

Ken Skates expressed the need to raise skills in the workplace, especially if the UK wants to remain competitive internally. To emphasise this point he informed the audience that there are now more graduates in India than the whole of Europe combined. Ken gave an endorsement for the forthcoming Skills Cymru event in October saying they anticipate there will be in excess of 150 exhibitors and 12,000 visitors. Innovative and informal, visitors have the chance to try new skills, discover hidden talents and explore fresh approaches to work, learning, skills and careers at these highly interactive events.

The event is free and you can book your place by clicking here. (You will need to register)

SkillsCymru is organised by Prospects and Cazbah, and supported by the Welsh Government and Careers Wales.
