Talk training celebrates learners success at the ILM graduation
Over 25 students, representing local businesses and organisations in Wales, gathered with their families and friends to mark the culmination of their Level 5 Institute in Leadership and Management (ILM) Higher Apprenticeship qualification. The event was held at the prestigious Royal Mint, offering a fitting backdrop to the celebration.
There was a clear sense of pride and accomplishment at the event which testified to the dedication and resilience of the students who had navigated the complexities of working full time, managing family commitments and studying for the Level 5 ILM qualification.
This was underscored by Jason Whitwell, one of the graduating students and a Project Support Manager at the Aneurin Bevan Health Board. Jason gave an inspiring and emotional speech about his learning journey with Talk training.
“I initially signed up in 2019 and thought I’d give it a go even though my time was limited because I had a busy job, I’m a father, grandfather and a junior football coach. Shortly afterwards the pandemic hit and the demands of the pandemic made it difficult to combine work and study but the help I received from my Assessors gave me confidence and encouraged me when I needed it the most.

The learning I experienced during the qualification has helped me overcome difficulties I encounter in a more effective way and has built upon my existing skills and helped me develop new ones”
Hosted by Talk Training, the event not only showcased individual triumphs but also reinforced the collective commitment to fostering leadership within the Welsh workforce.
Tanya Parmee, Sales Manager and Employee Representative Director of the Corporate Trustee company of Talk training, explained that;
“Talk training currently manages over 600 learners on apprenticeships whilst engaging with 130 organisations across Wales.”
Students also listened to inspiring speeches from Liz Parsons, HR Business Partner at HM Prison and Probation Service and Julie Rowlett HE partnership Manager at the ILM.
Steve Evans the Financial Director at Talk training congratulated all the learners whilst Lisa Harris, Operations Manager and Employee Representative Director of the Corporate Trustee company of Talk training presented students with their well-earned certificates, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
Catherine Roberts a Training and Development Support Manager at Neath Port Talbot Council has had to overcome many obstacles along her learning journey which is why she was so delighted to graduate;
“I started my qualification in 2017 but due to a horse riding accident, surgery, recuperation and then the pandemic it has taken me a long time to complete. Andy Martin my Assessor was understanding and supportive throughout and I can’t praise him enough”
The individual stories such as these added a personal touch to the proceedings and the presence of family and friends made the occasion all the more special. As the ceremony concluded, the graduates and their families were treated to a tour of the Royal Mint.
